Battery powered backpack sprayer compatible with Dewalt 20v battery
I used this for the first time a couple days ago. I was actually pretty impressed with how well it worked. I used a Dewalt brand 20v battery and sprayed my entire yard on the highest setting and didn’t even phase the battery. Battery life doesn’t seem to be an issue with this. I found it extremely easy to put together. The pressure for the spray was great and loved not having to keep one hand spraying and one hand pumping to keep pressure. I do wish it was larger. Was hard to tell how fast I was going through the mixture since the weight of the entire thing is so different from what I was used to in a backpack sprayer. Just had to figure out walking pace to match the output that I needed. Only drawback I found was the straps are a little cheap and if you had to wear for a very long time would probably get uncomfortable quickly. They need to be padded better to distribute the weight from the sprayer and the liquid inside. Other than that, I am really happy with this. No pictures as it looks exactly like the posted pics on the product listing.
Good option using your existing tool batteries
Hand pumping a sprayer for my entire perimeter was starting to hurt my shoulder and take forever. Using my existing power tool batteries to do the work for me is a massive improvement in efficiency. The pressure is consistent and reaches the high branches of my fruit trees easily. The backpack straps are padded well enough that the weight doesn’t bother me during about a 30 minute session, but that’s all my back can really handle if I’m being honest. I love being able to see exactly how much liquid is left through the translucent tank. The wand is a little shorter than I would like for some of my ground level weed spraying, causing me to bed more than I’d like. It has turned a chore I used to dread into a very quick task.
Way better than manual spraye
I’ve used a few manual pump sprayers over the years, including a small 1-gallon one that I had to refill several times just to cover my backyard. Switching to this 3-gallon battery sprayer makes the job much easier. The larger tank and powered pump mean I can cover the whole yard without stopping to refill or pump pressure constantly.
The build is decent overall, though it’s a bit of a mix. The wand has both metal and plastic sections, while the spray handle itself is plastic and feels a little cheaper than the rest. The tank seems sturdy, and the backpack straps distribute the weight fairly well.
The empty tank with a battery installed is already a bit on the heavier side, but since it’s worn like a backpack it’s not really an issue compared to handheld sprayers you have to carry.
Setup was simple. My unit arrived slightly wet inside the tank, which is from factory leak testing. The translucent tank makes it easy to see the fluid level, and the included nozzles give a few spray options.
The pump is also quieter than I expected, and the pressure stays consistent. Not having to pump manually is a big improvement. Just note it only works with Milwaukee 18V batteries—other brands didn’t fit even with adapters. I do wish it supported multiple battery types. Overall it’s a practical upgrade from smaller manual sprayers.
Another unpleasant task simplified by automatio
Ok, up front I didn’t pay close enough attention to the description and assumed my yellow and black brand (you know who is it) battery would work. I KNOW I KNOW It’s in the title, but I got tunnel vision on the powered part of the back-pack. With that said I still wanted to give an honest review and fortunately I work in maintenance so I was able to borrow an M18 battery.
I am never going back to pump spraying….ever. My time and energy is worth much more than the cost of this back pack and hand pumping. This back pack is a game changer for me. That sound dramatic but to me its worth the extra cost for the benefit of powered sprayer.
Lets get down to the brass tacks. The backpack already had some weight to it before loading it up with a battery and you choice of liquid product. With that said once I slung it on my back it was well distributed, the straps were comfortable, and the wand is long enough to use with left or right hands. The vibration and noise from the motor was perfectly fine with no complaints. The power was much MUCH better than manual hand pump tanks.
Fairly complete nozzle types should cover all your needs and adjustable flow will make sure you are applying the amount you want.
My only complaint is I use both spray fertilizer and weed killer and I don’t want to clean the tank each time so now I am forced to get a second powered back pack sprayer and since I only borrowed the battery I guess I should go ahead and sprinkle some RED into my Black and Gold *audible gasp*.
2 thumbs up!
Good sprayer for 5.0ah and less!
There were a few ups and down while using this product but overall this still earns all 5 stars.
The best part of a powered pressure sprayer is not having to pump to pressurize canister! The array of nozzles and tubes for the wand likely encompasses everything one could want to do. The stainless and plastic options for the wand allow you to choose which is best for the product you are spraying. In the video you will see an extension erupt as I was using it – unaware it was there. With the full length extension I was impressed how far you could reach.
The “negatives” you may encounter that came up during my experience was 6.0ah batteries and higher will not fit into the unit.
With a 5.0ah battery properly locked in I somehow managed to sling the door open and make the battery smash into the ground while taking the backpack off after spraying.
It’s a little hard to reach the pump on off button while it’s on your back – and there are 2 options for on labeled I and II. I tried both setting and not really sure the difference between them.
I would say this is a great value if you diligently protect the pump and pay attention y what chemicals you are spraying. Running lots of water after and not letting chemical sit in the canister are some positive habits that should add life to your sprayer.
Video lens got wet and I didn’t notice until now and I stitched a few clips together so had to lower the resolution a bit but it shows 6ah not fitting, 5ah fitting fine, wand extension shooting out “blooper” and spraying likely the most harsh thing you can ask a sprayer to spray – sodium hypochlorite as a strong concentration. It handled it fine and afterwards I ran 4 full tanks of pure water at various temperatures to try and flush it all out. Pump was able to handle it all and none of the seals leak – neither before nor after the strong “bleach”. Generally I wouldn’t suggest spraying sodium hypochlorite out of a sprayer unless it’s clearly rated for it but I managed to get away with it here and will likely use it that way again.
The pump sprayer has a strainer but the holes are so large it’s likely not filtering out anything you are actually going to drop in there.
Straps were comfortable – easy to install and more padded than other sprayers. The seals on the tank and pump were premium, well fitting and easy to seal without having to exert so much force. 3 gallon capacity is the perfect size for the kinds of things I do but compared to hand pump models it is easy to use more liquid in a smaller area since the pressure is maintained better than a traditional hand pump.
