Sturdy and useful
Bought this to clean up the me messy look of two monitors on my desktop. This is strong, adjustable, seems to be good quality and really did exactly what I wanted. Happy with it.
Good for when you don't want a clamp, but has a pretty big footpri
I was using a similar sort of dual stand before, and got really frustrated with it being a post with clamp. I wanted to try a version that’s just a flat thing on the desktop so it’s easier to adjust if I need to.
I like the way the arm clamp adjusts, when I first set it up I was able to adjust the height on my own by just slightly loosening the bolt. Really my greatest joy with this thing is being able to adjust things on my own without having to enlist someone else to keep things from crashing over. 😀 It’s also easy to switch things up, like I experimented with whether to use my second monitor in landscape or portrait, and you can change the orientation just by rotating, no fiddling with bolts required.
I’m a bit torn on whether it’s in general the great solution I want it to be, though. While I love that it’s easy to adjust, that’s also something you won’t realistically need to do anymore after the first few days when you’ve got everything how you want it. In the meantime, the glass base that gives it that clamp-free style I like also takes up a lot of space. If you’ve got a large (or even just regular sized) desk, I don’t think it’ll be an issue, and it’s kind of nice to have that space sort separated from the desktop in general so it maybe doesn’t collect clutter in the same way. (I put a cable holder on the back of it, and reserve the space for items that are actively recharging or that regularly need charging, like my wireless speaker, headphones, and watch charger.)
If you have a very small desk like me though, you need to be aware how much space it’ll take. Like actually measure it before you get this. The space I have for my desk is very small, so much so that I had to go buy my own custom cut slab of wood to fit the space as a desk top. The base of this stand only just fits, especially since my keyboard is a fairly bulky ergonomic setup. The first day I kept suddenly blasting my music by not realizing I’d pushed the edge of my keyboard underneath the platform, and it was hitting the volume button. 😀
Because the arms are counterbalanced by the base, you need to really pay attention to the fairly small available range for positioning the arms without overbalancing. There’s a diagram in the product description. I really pushed it with how I placed mine, and I wouldn’t want to try to manage it with monitors larger than my 24″.
Overall I like it, though I don’t know if I’ll end up sticking with it over time depending on whether I find the base an impediment eventually. It’s definitely not the solution for everyone or every situation, but IMO it’s a good option to have.
Great stable option for larger desks
I was super hesitant about this style of monitor stand but I’m very pleasantly surprised. Super good quality and more stable than some of the monitor arms I’ve tried that secure to the desk.
