This is an excellent product. The benefit of it is it’s a 10 year battery and it was easy instructions easy to work to get on the ceiling. I use the existing holes in the ceiling so I didn’t have to do much of anything other than replaced the unit on my old Mail unit died so this is a perfect replacement. I would recommend getting it.
I bought this smoke alarm mainly because I wanted something low-maintenance, and the 10-year battery was a big selling point.
Installation was quick and straightforward it only took a few minutes and came with everything I needed.
What I like most is not having to worry about changing batteries all the time. It’s one of those things you install and forget about, but still feel safer knowing it’s there.
The alarm itself is loud enough to definitely get your attention, which is exactly what you want in an emergency.
The design is pretty basic and doesn’t stand out too much, which I actually prefer. It blends in well with the ceiling and doesn’t look bulky. So far, it’s been working exactly as expected with no issues.
Overall, it does what it’s supposed to do without any hassle, and that’s really all I was looking for.
Pay attention to what you’re doing when you activate them. The instructions are confusing and ChatGPT is wrong on this one. The center screwdriver type slot in the red dial will line up with the setting you want. It will line up with ON when it’s or will PERMANENTLY DISABLE when you’ve killed it for good. That’s the only thing to be aware of. The instructions can be confusing. When you screw it into the mount, it can only be screwed in clockwise, aka “righty tighty”.
We were getting tired of false-alarm smoke detectors and having them all sing out in unison. Also, getting tired of replacing expensive 9v batteries each year for the 7 of them. This smoke detector has a 10 year battery, loud alarm and easy installation. We opted for the battery only model and tucked the low-voltage wires away underneath the mounting brackets. If the brackets aren’t drilled for your wiring box dimensions, they’re easily modified with a drill using a small drill bit to drill guide holes and then expanded in diameter with a larger bit to the size needed.
Once the base plate is mounted, just turn the detector on the base a quarter turn. The battery is activated with a chirp. A quick button test to make sure it’s active. That’s it.
I’m not a wiz at the mechanics, but the advertisement says that this model reduces false alarms by using traditional as well as visual tech in order to determine an actual fire or smoke danger. So… set it and forget it (with whatever test schedule is right for you) and don’t worry about them again until 2035!
This is our favorite smoke detector. They are reliable and have great reviews. They work when they need to and we trust them. This is our second one. Our first one lasted 7 years and we were happy with it, so we purchased it again. When this product needs to be replaced it will start beeping very loudly and not stop until it is taken down and disconnected. It was actually cheaper to purchase here on amazon rather than buying it in the store. Installation is very easy, just remove the packaging and hang it up.
