I attached this projector to the side of a tree. I almost pulled a muscle attaching it to the tree. This thing is heavy! There are twenty “cards” of different scenes that can be inserted only one at a time to project the common symbols of different seasons, Xmas, Valentine’s Day, Thanksgiving etc.
Fun, Bright, and Easy to Use With a Few Small Quirks
This Govee holiday projector adds a lot of charm with very little effort. The colors are bright, the motion effects are smooth, and setup took less than five minutes. I was able to get it running straight out of the box, and the app makes it easy to switch themes or adjust brightness without having to step outside in the cold.
The projection quality is genuinely impressive for the price — crisp enough to look great on a garage door or interior wall, and the festive animations get a lot of attention from neighbors and kids. The unit itself feels sturdy, and the stake/mount options give you some flexibility whether you’re using it indoors or outdoors.
My only reason for knocking off a star is that the image can soften a bit at longer distances, and some of the more detailed patterns don’t look as sharp unless you’re projecting onto a smoother surface. It’s nothing that ruins the experience, but worth noting.
Overall, this is a fun, reliable projector that brings a lot of holiday energy with minimal hassle. If you’re looking for an easy way to elevate your seasonal dcor, it’s a strong pick.
I have had two other iterations of prior “swirling” colorful lights like this and this exceeds the rest. My favorite thing is that it can fade between blue and white (or whatever colors you want) in a pattern up to 9 or 10 color changes. Mind blown.
The thing is built like a tank with a metal enclosure (my prior ones were plastic). Makes it heavy but it won’t get blown by the wind like what happened to a prior projector light. And the light is bright, I think brighter or a little stronger than my prior “swirling” lights.
Not perfect though. It is a pain swapping out the image slides. You have to unscrew these 4 really small hex bolts to open the door to change the image tray. Can’t just swap slides outside, would need to bring it inside. Was debating just not screwing on the slide tray cover but was worried it would compromise watertight integrity.
I was curious how the images work and they kind of spin in or out (hopefully the video I posted illustrates that). I feel like the images are YMMV. It I turned off the background “swirling” light (which you can do) they could be neat. will try just using the images for a different holiday.
Wish they had image slides for Dia de Los Muertos, Diwali, and Kwanzaa just to share appreciation of other cultures (if that would be appropriate).
I think the next major iteration of projectors (both for outdoor and indoor “space” ones will use digital images rather than photos on slides). Imagine the variety of images you could have and customization possibilities! If you can project a PowerPoint deck on a screen then you would think it should be possible to do with a carousel of digital images.
App is good as usual for Govee products and they have many scenes and customization options. Couldn’t connect to Google Home via Matter but figure that could be related to transition from Home to Gemini AI functionality or something with my network. Wasn’t a prob for me since I had it running on a smart outlet running on a schedule.
To summarize I am very happy and the price was worth it to me to get the option for unlimited color and to create custom color patterns up to ten. That for me was worth the price (though it is expensive). For me the images are YMMV, but that may change when other holidays roll around.
Great all-around outdoor projecto
So…look…I’m lazy. I don’t want to climb around my home and put up Christmas lights. Instead, I use a few of these to project lights onto my home. They’re easy to set up and easily survive the weather here in Northern California (which I admit isn’t going to be as severe as other places). There are two components that contribute to whatever you’re projecting: the slide that is loaded into the projector and the color that is projected through and around it.
There are a TON of holidays covered in the provided slides. They range from the obvious (Christmas and Halloween) to less common uses (birthdays, etc).
Very good projector. Clear, crisp, colorful images. The unit is well made, metal enclosure, two different projectors, one for images and one for background color/designs. I agree with many saying the system to load the image discs with the four allen screws is more work that necessary but it’s not that often so I’d let it go. It would be nice if they’d include a case for the 20 discs with a better job of numbering/or naming each one for easier identification. I came up with a DIY case fron the packing in the box, some duct tape and a print out of the disc info fron the instructions.
