First of all, I was not a fan of pressure cookers-my parents had one that seemed so… complicated and scary. I am a total newbie to the pressure cooker game and I figured I’d give it a go. I’m so happy to say that this isn’t my Mama’s pressure cooker! I like it because it’s smaller than the old school pressure cookers and it’s incredibly straightforward with only two main parts. LoL I can do this! Extremely user friendly for a scaredy cat like myself. It’s very versatile, can be used as a traditional stovetop pressure cooker or a stovetop steamer! It’s STURDY, works great and is built to last. It can be hand-washed (my preference) and is also dishwasher safe. It’s a good price, easy and very safe and secure to operate and would be a great gift. Makes delicious soups and stews, too.
This is a very well made pressure cooker. I was always scared of my grandmother’s pressure cooker. It always looked like it might explode at any moment! This pressure cooker is sleek & modern & nothing like the old school versions. My grandmother made the absolute best fried chicken in that tank she had though. I inherited her recipes, so I needed a pressure cooker to try & recreate her famous fried chicken! I need to tweak a few things in the recipe, but the pressure cooker was flawless! It’s amazing to me how quickly this pressure cooker cooks the food. Easy clean up too 🙂
Well, color me impressed. I’ve never seen anything like this. I’ll admit, I was sucked in at the idea of 5 minute rice. Not sure I’ll ever do that, but it caught my attention. But, the seal on this thing is nothing short of brilliant. My other half is finally not scared to use a pressure cooker. It’s so easy to use and feels super safe. Easy close; easy open. You just plop the lid on top and give the knob a spin, which pulls in three brackets that wrap around the periphery, sealing it up tight. (see pics) No sticking lids; no worrying about whether you seated it right; no worrying about whether you closed it tightly enough. Did I say this thing is great? Let me say it again. It’s great. Really great.
I had some qualms about the size, but really, we’re a family of three and this is a great size. The old behemoth is just too much of a pot to bust out on the regular, but this one gets used a lot. And, not just as a pressure cooker. In fact, it gets at least as much use as a regular pot, thanks the totally normal glass lid.
Oh, and I love that there’s two pressure settings you can choose from. So, you can tailor the pressure to the recipe and your time constraints. I’ve never owned a pressure cooker that had that as an option. It’s awesome.
Price is totally reasonable for a higher end stainless steel pressure cooker. Particularly one that does double duty as a regular pot and is induction burner ready to boot. Love this thing. Recommended with a cherry on top.
I’ve used pressure cookers for over 30 years, and never have I ever seen a stove top pressure cooker with a lid you can seal with one hand!
This cooker has a large, easy to use knob on top that turns to close and open the large clamps around the lip of the pot, and it’s really nice! No more struggling to get the pot notches lined up while making sure the gasket remains properly seated.
The whole lock mechanism being attached to the lid does add considerable weight to the lid, but it’s not so heavy as to make it unusable.
The sealing gasket is silicon and feels like it will last quite a while. It seats very snugly into the pressure cooker lid, and doesn’t come out unless you pull it out. Because this is not a twist-lock lid, the gasket is going to be protected from that friction, and should last a lot longer.
Finally, the inside of the lid also has a tension-fit metal filter to keep food from blocking the pressue release vent, and you’ll want to pull that off after every use and clean it.
This cooker has 3 different pressure options to choose from, depending on what you’re cooking, and they are easy to access. The booklet gives more info about those settings.
The pressure valve stem is bright red, so you won’t have to risk your face being melted off while trying to spy a hard-to-see valve anymore, and the side handles of this cooker are large and set away from the pot body, making it safer and easier to handle.
The stainless steel of this heavy duty pot is thick and heats evenly as far as I could tell.
The unit comes with a regular glass pot lid that is vented, and it’s made of tempered borosilicate glass, so once you’re done pressure cooking, you can set aside the heavy locking lid in favor of the lightweight glass lid to keep the food covered.
This pressure cooker also comes with an in-depth use manual for those who have never used a pressure cooker.
This is a high quality pressure cooker that I’m excited to have.
For this who have never used a pressure cooker, know this: pressure cookers are basically a standard cooking pot that can be used for regular cooking. It becomes a cooker using high pressure only when you take steps to create pressure within the pot, so don’t be afraid to try it out!
Even if the pressure cooking turns out not to be your thing, you’ll still have a super nice pot with a glass lid you can use for non-pressure cooking, and it will last for years and years.
