I bought this machine on a lark last week after watching the videos of the paid reviewers who pretty clearly have never operated an espresso machine before (putting the portafilter in sideways or pulling the shot into the frothing pitcher — really?) yet somehow managed to get what looked in the videos like decent espresso. If these clowns could do it, I was curious what a semi-experienced sort-of coffee snob like myself could do.
I was prepared to hate this machine — but I actually like it.
It does have sort of a cheap feel to it — certainly not as sturdy as the Breville Barista knockoff I’d been using for the past few years.
Here are some observations from a week with it.
— The portafilter is pressurized, as I expected. That makes it mostly idiot-proof. But the pressurized portafilter does still manage to pull a pretty decent shot from the two sets of beans I’ve tried.
— One drawback — you get a soupy puck, though buying a third-party puck screen helps with that. It’s also tough to knock the puck out when you’re done. Takes a good 8-10 whacks on the knock box or trash can to pry it loose. (Can anyone help with that?)
— Feeling adventurous, I found a non-pressurized, bottomless portafilter elsewhere on Amazon — you want one that has three ears and is 51mm. Setting the grind fine and giving it a hard tamp can get you a shot that beats the pressurized version and, all things considered, is pretty good — even if it still feels like the flow rate is a bit too fast, and not syrupy enough.
— Where this thing shines is the steam wand. It makes excellent milk, silky smooth microfoam and a high-speed vortex in the pitcher. Its wand absolutely crushes my old Barista knockoff. I could never get that thing to create latte art, and I’m still not a very good artist — but the photo shows what I have already learned to draw. Pro tip: Use whole milk. Skip the skim. Whole milk is *so* much easier to get art from.
Bottom line: I’m very happy with this machine. Definitely happier than I expected to be when I bought it.
Excellent price for a quality product!
So far so good after several weeks’ trial. I was visiting friends and fell in love with their thousand dollar fully automatic espresso machine. The quality and taste of the coffee was amazing and I wanted to do the same but could not spend that much money. After searching online and looking at the reviews, I decided to try this one, and I have not been disappointed! I switched to this from my k-Cup machine to enjoy a better flavored coffee and it definitely delivered. There is a bit of a learning curve on understanding why and how espresso is made, but there are plenty of YouTube tutorials and the process is actually rather enjoyable! It’s fantastic to make people coffee and frothed milk and see their reaction at the skill and finished product. I would definitely recommend this to others. The footprint is very compact which was an advantage over the fully automatic as well. And just for informational purposes I also highly recommend the Lavazza grand Crema espresso beans. Also available from Amazon! YUM!!!
Always wanted an espresso machine but all the named brands are very expensive. This one is fully equipped for a decent price. I have used a Breville machine, and I do think this machine makes a decent espresso in comparison.

Equipped with grinder and steam wand, the grinding does a good job with options to choose the grind size. You can perfect your own grind size. And with the steam wand, you can froth and heat up your milk well for a latte!
Water tank can be removed and filled which is a plus. Machine’s noise level is okay. Not too bad.
Manual is easy to follow, very informative, teaches you to flush/clean the system before you first use it. Also, shares with you recipe for cappuccino, latte, Americano, etc.
Comes with all the necessary amenities to make you a proper variations of a coffee!
