The LED digital display guides you through each step from start to finish, whether you are processing low-aid foods like vegetables, meat, and fish or high-acid foods such as fruits, jams, and salsa. An innovative sensor allows the canner to automatically detect and hold the exact temperature required for safe home canning, with no adjustments necessary, even when pressure canning at high altitudes. With a user-friendly digital interface, the canner allows you to select the canning method and set the processing time, while the built-in timer ensures accurate, reliable results. The canner even preheats your jars and keeps them hot until filled and ready for processing. For boiling water canning, the sensor detects when the water reaches the boiling point and automatically activates the canning process, making it virtually effortless to process high-acid foods. It comes with a canning rack, a detailed instruction/recipe book, and an easy-to-reference quickstart guide. You will have the peace of mind knowing that the Presto Precise® Digital Pressure Canner is equipped with ten built-in safety features including a cover locking system and an alert symbol that indicates an incomplete canning process. Absolutely LOVE this canner. I saved up for this bad boy after I got its baby sister, the 12 quart. The 12 qrt was how I taught myself how to do canning and haven’t stopped. The ease of directions and use tale out the guessing game or fear of it blowing up in my face. I highly recommend all thier product but the electric canner is a game changer for sure. The directions are clear and concise. If you are questioning about buying this item or the smaller one, trust that when you buy it you made a sound and trusted purchase that you will use soooo much.
I love this pressure canner! First, it was packaged really well. The instructions are very easy to follow. When I purchased it, I didn’t realize you could also water bath can so that was a nice surprise. I just used the water bath canning function last weekend, for the first time and my only complaint would be it seemed to take a long time for it to heat up BUT the directions did say to add boiling water and the water I added was not boiling but room temperature. The canner seems built really well; it’s pretty heavy. Definitely worth the money.
I’ve been using the Presto Precise 23-Quart Digital Pressure Canner for about two weeks now, and overall I’m very happy with it. I’ve used it for both pressure canning and water bath canning, and it has made the process much easier than using a traditional stovetop pressure canner.
There is a slight learning curve when you first get started, especially if you’ve always canned the traditional way, but after a couple of batches it becomes very straightforward.
I really appreciate that the digital controls take much of the guesswork out of maintaining pressure and timing.
My only real complaint is with the jar warming cycle. If you don’t want to warm your jars first, it’s not very intuitive how to skip that step.
Also, once you’ve started a cycle, you can’t adjust the settings or time you have to turn the unit off and start over.
It’s not a dealbreaker, but it would be nice if Presto added more flexibility in a future model.
One thing I’m still keeping an eye on is the removable rack that sits in the bottom of the canner.
After a 90-minute water bath of cherry tomatoes, I noticed what looked like scorch marks or discoloration on the bottom when I cleaned it the next morning.
I always add a little vinegar to the water, so I’m not concerned about cosmetic staining, but I do hope it’s just normal discoloration and not a sign that something isn’t working correctly.
Overall, this has been a great for this beginner’s canning setup.
It simplifies both pressure canning and water bath canning, is much less intimidating than a traditional pressure canner, and gives me confidence throughout the process.
Despite a couple of minor quirks, I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an easier way to preserve their harvest.
So far have canned squash, beef, beans, tomatos.
Amazing product. Very easy to operate. You do not have to stand over a stove anymore. Once you put the weight on, you press a button and it does the right. It was hard for me to stand for long periods of time do to a health issue. It also does water bath!
I have used Presto pressure canner for years. Have always loved them. When I saw this electric pressure canner, I had to try it. It’s a bit pricey compared to their “regular” pressure canner, but it’s on part with the cost of an All American. I took the plunge and bought this one, giving it a first test on a taco soup recipe. It performed great and made pressure canning the soup very easy! I was a but puzzled that it doesn’t require you to set a lbs per pressure depending on your altitude. I also do not like that it makes you warm your jars in the canner first before you fill them. There is no way to bypass this step. But overall, this canner has performed great and I look forward to using it for next season’s harvest. It’s nice that it won’t be taking up space on my stove top and it’s a stand alone unit. This saves so much time and space!!
My third presto electric product! 12 quart Electric Cooker, 7 years, 12 quarts Electric “Canner”, 7 years, 23 Quart Electric “Canner “, 1 month! I Begged for the 7 quart Canner in Electric, when the 12 Quart came out! But Presto has perfected the design with the New 23 Quart model. The metal on metal closure is very “Safe”. I love the beeping. I can hear it all over the house when the cycle changes. I have toasted my arm a few times putting jars into a hot canner. I’m a short lady and the canner is tall, just be careful. This one is not insulated like the 12 Quart model. Actually that’s an advantage because it makes the Pot lighter and easier to lift and empty. Never try to empty a Hot Canner. Let it Set Overnight! Presto is a great Customer Service Company. They replaced my 12 Quart Canner when the green lid broke. The price is high, but it’s American Made. I’m Proud to be a long time Presto Customer. Yes, I still have the old 23 quart manual canner. Mines an Antique! I keep it in memory of Hard Times, and my Mom. If you choose to buy this 23 Quart Electric Canner you’ll be very happy! Canning 7 quarts at a time is soooo much better than having room for only 5, in my 12 quart model. But being able to do pints in double stacked is an Electric Blessing! It will save you so much time!
Never pressure canned before. This made the job so easy. It is roomy and tells you when to do each stage of pressure canning. It also automatically adjusts for the altitude. Would recommend this to anyone that wants to Pressure Ca
This pressure canner is absolutely amazing! Without a doubt, it’s the best canning purchase I’ve ever made—and that’s saying a lot since I already own two stovetop pressure canners. It’s incredibly easy to use, simple to clean, and the perfect size for canning quart jars or two layers of pint jars.
If I had to mention one minor downside, it would be that it takes a little while to cool down after processing. But honestly, that’s not really an issue and certainly doesn’t take away from how well this canner performs. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase!
