I got this primary for my 4 cup Bialetti espresso maker but have also tried it for eggs with a couple cast iron skillets. It works quite well although as expected it’s usable but not ideal for a large (10″) skillet. The 700 watt setting works well for espresso and the 500 is good for eggs.
Mine was a used/like new model and it’s fine even though it came without instructions. Controls are obvious and intuitive. As long as you understand that induction burners require cookware that a magnet will stick to, you should be good to go.
A final caveat is that if you don’t have a level surface for this you need to make sure the bottom of your moka pot or pan is dry before you put it on the glass plate. My Bialetti started to slide sideways on this as one point before I figured this part out.
I bought a ‘used-mint condition’ NESTEQEX 700 Watt mini induction cooktop to go with my 1000 Watt hour power station when van camping. I want to be able to cook inside the van if the weather isn’t great outside. I used it enough to see that I can make moka pot coffee, 1 serving of quick cook steel cut oatmeal, and boil about 2 cups of water, and only see the power station go from 100% to 80% charge. When using a 6″ diameter induction ready kettle or pan, the power station reported an output of 700 Watts with the cooktop at its highest setting. When using my 4″ diameter induction ready steel moka pot, the power station reported only 500 Watts with the cooktop at its highest setting. This makes sense since smaller diameter cookware cannot absorb the full magnetic field, so the electronics limit the power. I also tried using a small induction adapter plate to boil water in a non-magnetic pan. That didn’t work so well as it took a long time for the water to heat, and just as it was coming to a boil, the NESTEQEX beeped and threw an E8 error code. My ‘used-mint condition’ cooktop didn’t come with a user manual, but my guess is that E8 is an over temp error code. I searched online for a user manual with the error codes but haven’t found anything. It would be great if someone would post the list of error codes in a review. The quality of the cooktop seems really nice. I hope it keeps working for a long time as I really like it. Thanks.
This was a total surprise! It functions where more expensive induction tops fail. Having a large portable induction top from a well known brand, I always had to use the one branded for induction use when brewing coffee and quickly swap with an 18/20 pot to continue brewing the second pot. This little gizmo did what the big boys could not do and that was allow the use of an 18/20 with out doing a switcharoo! I’m able to use which ever pot I choose. The compact size allows me to store it on the counter without taking too much space. Size makes it a good top for travel, small enough to carry in a suitcase or backpack. A couple of minor issues which were no a deal breaker, it come only in white, it’s not made for wide pots or sauce pans that stick beyond the edges, take a few minutes more than the high end tops but as I said not a deal breaker. High recommend if you need a replacement or just one to take on a trip!

I gave it a 4 since it suited my very restrictive needs. I boil water for my morning French Press coffee. I needed a small induction plate to replace my larger induction plate. I avoid using my gas stove when possible. There is no venting in my small apartment. I suspect some gas emanations from my old stove. Ideally I would like an electric tea kettle but I cannot find one with a small capacity, quality reviews and in my price range.
This induction plate does take longer to boil water than the larger induction plate it replaces but time is not an issue for me – though it may be for others. It only gets to 266F which works for boiling water and reheating foods like precooked hotdogs, grilled cheese and veggie burgers. I think that is its main purpose.
I do notice (as mentioned by some) a smell – at times – but it is not strong. I have been using it daily for three weeks. Hopefully it lasts a couple of years.
