simply works, no fuss, no muss.
got this as a replacement for make/model that’s no longer available when the pitcher broke. so far this has been a 100% better kettle in every regard. the 4 hour keep-warm function is great. and i love how it is pretty intuitive to use.
Pros and cons, it is beautiful though
I like its excellent temperature control. However, I dislike the strange design of the lid’s filter attachment, and I wish I had bought a different kettle that didn’t try to be innovative in the lid design. The problem is the lid cannot be used without the filter attachment. I do not find the filter attachment to be worth it. It doesn’t go deep enough in the water if you are trying to make less than a liter of tea. The tea leaves do not get fully submerged in the water. I have better steeping results by using a simple cotton drawstring bag. The other issue I have is when I tried to simply throw the tea leaves into the water to get a better steep, I found that the inside of the kettle where the top section is, with the metal band, has a deep groove that traps the loose leaves and it is a nightmare trying to wash the leaves out of the groove. This led me to switch to using a cotton drawstring bag to eliminate this issue. A very poorly thought out part of the design!
I gave it 4 stars in spite of these issues because it boils water to a precise degree and has a ‘keep warm’ function and it does look beautiful. I just wish there is an alternative lid I could get for it, then I would be much more happy with it if I could get a version of the lid that is without the filter attachment.
