Shoe Storage - expert review :)
I am a self-admitted shoe-aholic, – mostly gorgeous, high-heel, make heads turn, shoes. After moving, I decided to reorganize my shoes. The individual plastic shoe boxes with lids I had been using were too air-restrictive and caused several pair of faux leather designer shoes to peel beyond repair. After drying my tears, I began searching and researching shoe storage options. Finally, I narrowed it down to two brands at similar price points. When you have over 125 pairs of shoes, you have to be cost conscious. So, I ordered Amazon Basics Stackable and Foldable Clear Shoe Storage Organizer Boxes along with another brand available on Amazon, Kuject Shoe Storage Boxes.

The Kuject shoe boxes are good, but the Amazon Shoe Storage Organizer boxes are far better. Both brands assemble in a similar fashion – like the dozens of other similar boxes available – they both have the option to attach boxes together to form the “organizer”, both offer a door to access the shoes, and both brands can be used vertically or horizontally. But that’s where the similarity ends.

The Amazon boxes are made of PET (polyethylene terephthalate); all the others, including Kuject, are made of PP (polypropylene). PET is crystal-clear, with glass-like clarity. PP is cloudy, foggy, translucent, making it hard to clearly see what’s inside.

I see in the reviews that people said the Amazon boxes were hard to assemble, more difficult than the other brands. Most of those reviews appear to be older and most likely refer to the earlier version of the Amazon boxes. I have no experience with the older boxes and they do seem a little strange in the way they stack.

However, the Amazon boxes available now are the best. I purchased all three sizes, Small, Medium, & Large. I wear a women’s size 6.5 and the Medium size is perfect for most of my shoes. You can see the shoes from any angle because the boxes are crystal clear. The white frames are very sturdy and the body of the boxes seems quite durable. I have some of them stacked 12 high without any issues.

The Kuject brand uses PP plastic for the walls and door of their shoe boxes, making it difficult to clearly see the shoes inside. The black frames are sturdy and the boxes stack well. However, I found the Kuject boxes more difficult to assemble due to the flexibility in the walls of these boxes that makes inserting them into the black frames more difficult.

My only issue with the Amazon boxes is they run out of stock often, especially the medium size. I need four more sets to finish updating my shoe storage and I’m still waiting. In the photos, the white frame boxes are Amazon’s and the black frame boxes are Kuject.
