In the world of little Scandinavian pancake-type breakfasts, I’ve made Ebelskivers (sometimes spelled in English as Aebleskiver) in the past using the Ebelskiver pans, so I was very intrigued when I was able to check out this Awgpd mini Dutch pancake maker. One of the frustrations of making Ebelskivers was that most pans only supported making seven or so at a time. Then, you’d fill them, only to watch your relatives inhale them in minutes, forcing you to make another batch immediately.
I’ve been testing this pancake maker with my family over the past couple of weeks, and it’s hard to put into words how much fun it is to use for making little pancakes for your family and guests. You can produce fifty mini 1.7-inch wide pancakes per batch!
As far as the griddle itself goes, it’s made from quality commercial-grade materials, and the fit and finish are excellent. The controls are easy to see and use, and they offer precise temperature and timer settings to achieve very consistent results while tuning your recipes. The griddle does have some hot spots, but they are not so varied as to cause wide variances in results. The griddle temperature recovers between batches quickly. Maintenance and cleaning took a bit of time, but nothing too intrusive.
Of course, once you’ve mastered making little pancakes, and if you are like me, you naturally start to get a little creative and start testing the versatility of the griddle. I liked that this griddle performed exceptionally well. For instance, pancakes on the left side, a little bit of egg on the right side of the griddle, and suddenly, you have a little pancake and egg sandwich. There are so many possibilities, including desserts, breakfast, and appetizers, pancakes with fillings are just a start—an outstanding test bed. Overall, I’m delighted with this griddle.
For commercial use, the entry price is a small investment that allows you to test the griddle over a more extended period and add unique, consistent results to your menu. Also, an interesting test of what your staff can come up with to help increase sales.
