Pupdate: OHEMGEEE THE TEETH. How many days has it been? Who knows. What I can tell you is that my stellar amazing husband bought me a GORGEOUS sofa, my DREAM sofa, (the Gilman Creek Zakary at Costco) when we have a 13 year old kid, 2 senior dogs and 2 puppies in the house. (He means well, he really does.). After my first disaster of a sofa cover order (Lies,lies, lies. Not waterproof, not even a cover. Just a stretchy mesh overlay – ugh!) I saw the plastic looking backing on this and thought “why not?). I live in an area where we can’t even purchase something like this locally – and since Joann Fabrics went belly up, making my own is not an option. Not to mention I completely lack the time and particular skill set. So this cover was on the way here before the dumpster fire I first ordered even made its back to the warehouse or tree stump or old rotten tire pile from whence it came.
First impression was pretty great. I got everything out of the package and got the covers on the couch fairly quickly. Then I wondered who in the world left elastic straps on my dining room table and threw them out. I’m not very bright2 senior dogs and 2 puppies, remember?
They are narrow for my seats. Other people have said they rip easy, and yes, when one of my terrierists tugged on the back flap of the corner cover, it tore. But my ratters have scratched and dug at the seats and not a rip at all. We have washed them and hold up great. We dry on the lowest setting, and they go right back on the couch. I’ve just ordered a second set to switch out for washing time, because I like sitting on my couch and I like living in a world where I can spill.
Anyway. That well meaning husband I mentioned dug up our entire backyard a few weeks ago. Dirtwirk and gravel has been done for a new patio and footers for a new greenhouse. You know what that means? Sand. Lots and lots of sand. Know what’s not getting all over my precious dream sofa? Sand. It’s everywhere else in the house. It’s a lot easier to vacuum the seat covers off than the entire sofa. The pockets on the arm covers are useless to us because puppies and also, our sofa has pockets built into each end. The arm covers do not have holes to access the power recliner and headrest buttons (which are also covered by one the side flaps on a non-end reclining seat) but I’m not THAT stupid and the fabric isn’t so thick that we can’t figure it out.
They ARE waterproof. Mud, coffee, puppy excited pee – my precious sofa has been spared all of them so far.
