This replaced a 7 year old mini cooker. This cost twice as much but is very much worth it. Perfect rice. Great 1 pot dinners. The rice actually tastes better as advertised. Easy to use and clean. Extremely happy.

    Worth the price. Good quality!
If you’re looking for a rice cooker that’s affordable, easy to use, and reliable, this rice cooker is a great choice. It’s designed for simple “set it and forget it” use—you just add the rice and water, press a button, and it handles the rest. Many models also include multiple cooking modes for white rice, brown rice, porridge, steaming, and more, making it a versatile kitchen appliance. Overall, it delivers consistently good rice for daily meals without costing as much as premium brands, which makes it a solid option for most households.

This rice cooker is incredibly simple to use and makes perfect rice with zero effort. The buttons are easy to understand and it cooks everything evenly without burning the bottom. The inside pot has a great non stick coating that makes washing up afterward incredibly fast and simple. It looks very sleek on the kitchen counter and does not take up too much space. It is a reliable and high quality appliance if you want a hassle free way to make great side dishes for dinner.

Amazing Rice Cooker - Must have i
I am regular Rice Eater putting fresh rice 2 times a day. I use Sona Masoori and Basmati Rice and this Rice cooker cooks them perfectly. My Parents recently visited me from India and they are very picky but they loved the Rice out of this thing. Very fluffy, not mushed together, tasty. It retains temperature for a long time. It has decent capacity for 5 people. Good value for money. I am planning to buy another one as a backup rice cooker. Get it you won’t regret it. Please read instructions depending on type of the Rice used for perfect results. Good Luck and God Bless.

4.5 stars for The Umami Rice Cooke
There really should be half stars in the ratings. This should really be a 4 star review but I’m giving it an extra half for price with a strong feature set.

I call this my poor man’s Zojirushi. It has Japanese writing on the control panel and on the outside of the pot which looks cool. It even plays a little song.

I wanted a rice cooker that was about 6 cups size, that had fuzzy logic, removable lid, and an inner pot with easy to see markings that was not your typical non-stick coated. Preferably made in Korea or Japan.

This Toshiba checked all the boxes except it’s made in China. I guess it would be more expensive if it wasn’t.

    My only complaints are:

+I don’t like having the control panel on the lid. You can see or do anything when the lid is open. Also wonder about the electronics catching all the heat and moisture over time. I’d rather have the controls on the front below the lid like the Zojis and some others.

+I don’t know why they didn’t include a program menu item for quinoa. I figured out that the quick cook setting works well, but with all these menu items on modern smart cookers, why not quinoa?

    +The cord could be longer.

+I wish the elapsed time displayed for keep warm would show minutes and hours, not just hours.

Other than that, it makes great rice. I have now discovered congee which I never heard of but turns out it’s really yummy and versatile. Next is to try gaba rice.

The ceramic pot is really heavy (a good thing, feels very sturdy) and has been a dream for clean-up so far. We’ll see how it holds up over time.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWonderful cooker with many, many uses
I have so much more to explore with this machine, but this is a quick review. I bought this brand because it’s a Japanese company with integrity and pride in their products, versus all the Chinese crap that’s made out of who knows what or if it’s even safe for cooking.

As a single person, I prob won’t be making huge dinners, but if I needed to feed more than me, this would handle it with grace.

Of course, first thing I did (before reading the manual) was to make some jasmine rice. I used my own measuring cups, and chose the jasmine option (easy controls) and pressed start. One cute little chime and 50 min later I get great rice. I can’t say what the “done” chime sounds like (if there is one) since I’m in a different room and it’s not a loud chime. At least it’s not an obnoxious alarm screaming at you for attention. It just switches to the keep warm function waiting for your return. It’s definitely easier than trying to use my pot and boiling water and perfect timing. My rice came out great, fluffy and smelled so good. One surprise I found was that there is a clock on the display when not in use. I didn’t know this, set on military time, and I couldn’t figure out why it was showing 035 for 12:35am. I didn’t set the time but it’s accurate.

You get the main bowl that’s nonstick ceramic. It is heavy duty feeling, a steamer basket, two spoons (one rice paddle, one ladle). I love how it’s easily disassembled for cleaning. On the lid is a QR to get further recipes since they weren’t included in the accompanying papers. I’ve not checked that out just yet, though I am looking at a cookbook specifically for this unit. I’m interested in trying out the fuzzy logic to see how things come out “on the fly” instead of preset times.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersHighly recommended rice cooker.
I love it. Easy to clean is one of the best description that I can describe it. There are several selection of what kind of grain you will be cooking, so far I only use it for steam rice and I highly recommend it.

The bowl is non-stick and ibbelieve its a thick coating, sad to say mine comes with a few bits of scrape inside, no big deal it will happen sooner or later specially if my family members are not careful. The bowl came in a surprise, it’s kinda heavy compared to other brand that I used so far. This is pushing it a little bit I hope there are a spoon holder on the side, no big deal. It has it’s own clock and has timer capability if you want to delay your cooking. It can also tells you how long it has been warming or how long since the cooking was completed, that is a nice feature. It is way to use, just look at the buttons for a few minutes and you will understand the basic functions.
