Had it for a few days. We bought it for the toddler’s playroom.
It runs DVDs from the library and it runs Blu-ray Bluey so it works just fine for us.
I like that it’s small and the HDMI cable is handy.
This Sony Blu Ray DVD player is a snap to set up! Its compact size is perfect for my console and the quality image and audio is superb. The remote is very easy to use and to connect to the system! I’m very pleased with this item!
Bought this as a replacement for a Sony DVD player that I’ve had connected to my bedroom TV for years. All said, I paid a big $40 for the DVD player so I really got my money’s worth until it started freezing up a few weeks ago..
My bedroom TV (a small 20″ Samsung) must be about 20 years old and has only one HDMI connection. To use the Blu-Ray and my STB, I had to purchase an HDMI switch/splitter which works like a charm.
I’ve only played a few disc so far and the performance is as good as I could have hoped for considering that the TV is only 720dpi.
The remote is small but is about the same size as the one that came with my old DVD player. It would be nice if the buttons were backlighted but they are what they are and I’ll get used it the same way as I did the DVD remote.
Time will tell how well this unit holds up but if it lasts as long as my old Sony DVD player I’ll be more than happy.
Picture is fantastic. Fast speed is certainly appreciated. The only fault that I have is the fact that turns on when wired to the dvd input. I then select the PC input, then turn off the unit.
I had bad luck with my last 2 Sony BluRay DVD players. Major volume changes every few minutes throughout the movies. Also, was not able to operate fast frame forward/reverse functions or slow motion. And no screen aspect ratio capability…every thing 16:9.
BUT….NOW THE GOOD NEWS! This brand new Sony you sent me this past week is working perfectly well with all those functions listed above completely 100% OKAY!!! Only thing this player can’t do is play any older FULL FRAME DVD movies….which I don’t have very many of. And for those old B&W movies, I still have a 20 year old DVD player I switch to just for those “old tech” movies (Sunset Blvd and other Film Noire type movies). If any problems suddenly arise, I will come back to this review and update it with a “caveat”. So let’s all just think positive thoughts……!!!
I needed a low-profile player for the Winnebago Vista, and this Sony unit is ideal. It’s compact enough to fit into tight cabinetry but packs all the features you need. The DVD upscaling works surprisingly well for older discs, making them look sharp on a modern screen. The included HDMI cable is a nice touch, so it’s ready to go right out of the box. It’s simple, fast-loading, and quiet—exactly what you want for a cozy movie night at the campsite.
