I’ve had this installed on my coop for approximately 2 months. In the settings, I’ve turned off the light sensor assistance. With it turned on, the door was inconsistent and sometimes wouldn’t open on cloudy days. Having it turned off, it works great. You can easily set the open/close times in the app. It took our girls a few weeks to get used to it and go in the coop on their own. I had to set the audible recall feature to 90 seconds for the girls to figure it out. It’s a huge time saver and it’s consistent. It’s pretty well built. It was easy to install on our tractor supply Predator coop and fit over the existing door without cutting through metal. The app is called “THYMIX” and is pretty self explanatory. The coop is 3/4 in the sun and with the solar, the auto door stays around 90% battery life consistently. I was considering going with the run chicken, but the solar panel is on the door opener itself, which would get zero sun inside my specific coop. I also tested the pressure of the door closing to ensure it wouldn’t trap a girl. I let it close on my finger twice. After two attempts, it stayed open. It likely would not harm a chicken as it didn’t really hurt my finger.
I made the right decision.
I’ve been using this a few weeks now, and it works great – I was very dissspointed at the other one from the seller ” XRDZYXGS” (should’ve known by the name) I tried first that was a real piece of junk, flimsy and broke after three months, but this one is soooo much better.
Right from the beginning, I was impressed at the packaging and instructions, and the quality of it.
It can be scheduled, operated from the phone (Bluetooth only) or from the remote directly. It also can play audio before it opens or closes to notify animals.
The only downsides I would share are that it isn’t wifi so can’t be controlled from anywhere, and that each time I open the app it has to re-connect to bluetooth all over again. This also means it can’t have quick buttons for your phone home scree
We love this chicken coop door. It has really made it easy to make sure our chickens are locked away safely at night. It was pretty easy to set up and cut out the area needed for this to fit. It is much larger than the normal coop door size. The only thing to make it way better would be if it was WiFi enabled. It is pretty much useless on bluetooth to open and close the door. By the time I open the app I can already have closed or opened the door by pushing the button on the door.
The chicken coop door worked fine at first – but stopped working after about 5 months. I contacted the seller, answered a few of their questions, and they promptly sent me a brand new door! Great Customer Service!!!
