I loved this product. Had not had a chance to use it; however, with the recent snow and ice storm, it really came in handy. Was having to cook outside using solar stations inside, so chose to grill out on the enclosed deck. It really helped out a great deal, keeping me from freezing. Did not seem to eat up my power source in the time frame used. Very pleased and happy I had it.

I finally had enough cold weather to test this greenhouse heater. I am happy to report that it performs as advertised. I put the heater in my sunroom to provide warmth during this cold weather. I have plants in the sunroom that I don’t want to move into the house due to their size. This heater has proven to be very capable of keeping the sunroom warm enough to protect my plants. It is very easy to set up and use and the directions that accompany it are clear and easy to follow. The thermostat makes it easy to set the desired temperature, and the unit will respond accordingly and shut off when the set point is reached. This is the best scenario, since it allows control and you don’t have to depend on the overheating shut off feature, which this heater also has. If you do not wish to use the thermostat, the heater will shut off and prevent overheating. I tried it and it does work but decided to use the thermostat. The heater does get quite warm to the touch, so I put it on a metal rack up off the ground for safety. I do have pets and did not want to brush up against it either, so keeping it off the ground is preventing any issues in that regard. It turns out that even at 1500 watts, it is really not very expensive to run. It is about 25 cents an hour where I live, so that is reasonable to keep my sunroom warm enough during the cold weather and provide the needed protection for my plants. Based on the excellent performance, this is a great value. I am happy that I found it and it is keeeping everything warm.
Greenhouse not required, unit comes with thermostat and controller with rtd probe for automatic control, or plug it in and let ‘er burn until temp overheat protection shuts it off.

So far no complaints, though almost feels to good to be true. Time will tell on longevity but the coil is pretty chonky.

Okay then – this is an interesting, relatively small heater to promise heat to a large room/greenhouse. Not going to test it in this hot fall season. But-the design is on the cheap side-so is the price. It looks like the old electric stove coil heating element with a fan behind it. It comes with an in-line “thermostat.” So-you can plug it directly into an outlet. I would make sure you don’t have anything drawing power on that circuit-this is a 1500watt heater so you’re running near 15Amps. First knob-off / fan only on / fan and heating element. Second knob-rotary to set heat level. Without the thermostat, while testing, it did not turn off. Then I used the thermostat. Easy enough. Set to C or F. Set the desired temp and turn the knobs to fan/heat on and max the temp knob. The thermostat has a temperature probe you can put in soil (greenhouse) or place as far away as the cord will allow if you’re heating a garage. The fan and heat will turn off/on as temperature is reached. I’m not sure how many degrees the temperature has to drop before it turns back on. The only thing I found annoying is that when raising or lowering temperature you have to push the + or – button each time to change the temperature setting-can’t hold it and race through the numbers. Otherwise, it’s easy to read and use. I used an IR thermometer to check heating element temperature and temperature of the heater itself. Sides don’t get too hot to touch. Interesting that the heating unit’s plug is a 2-prong, the thermostat will accept the 3-prong (w/ground). And the thermostat’s male plug is a 3-prong. The fan is not noisy/loud.
We move all the outdoor plants into an enclosed gazebo in the winter – especially when there will be frost. I was excited to see this come up as an offering on Vine to use as an alternative to the propane heater and to also try in the smaller greenhouse.
Since it’s still the middle of summer here, we decided to give it a little test to check out its functioning. To test out the thermostat, we created a little insulated “cave” with a couple pillows and a blanket. We set the thermostat to 84 degrees, stuck the probe in the “cave” and turned on the unit. It heated up the test space very quickly and turned the heater off at about 85 degrees. To further test its sensitivity, we then removed the probe from the “cave” and held it against a glass with an icy drink in it. You can see in the video that it reads the temperature drop quickly and the thermostat activates the heater appropriately.
I’m sure we’ll be able to form a more salient opinion once we actually try it in the gazebo (about 10X12) and the greenhouse (about 4×6). But as of now, I can say that this heater looks nicely made, the color is great, and the controls are simple. The quality looks good, it’s pretty lightweight, and compact.
There are instructions to program the thermostat, but no real installation guidance. Fortunately, it’s not rocket science:
1. Plug the power cord for the heater into the short cord on the thermostat.
2. Plug the long cord from the thermostat into your power supply.
3. Place the thermostat probe wherever you want to regulate the temperature.
4. Program the thermostat according to the included directions.
5. Turn on the heater and get cozy with some hot cocoa!
I picked this up to get our greenhouse ready for this coming spring and I am really happy with how solid and well built it feels. The heater warms up quickly and puts out a strong, steady flow of heat that should work well for keeping plants comfortable on chilly nights. The thermostat controller is simple to use and makes it easy to set the temperature without constantly checking on it. I also like that it has overheat protection and is rated for damp environments since greenhouses can get humid. It is lightweight enough to move around when needed but still sturdy. So far, it looks like it will be a great addition for helping all of our plants thrive when the weather is unpredictable.
