This has the option of just running with just the fan, or running with the fan and heat. The first time I used it, I didn’t realize that and couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t warming up. So, pay attention to the dials and you should be set. I haven’t used the timer yet, I am currently using this as a heater on my porch when I take my young kids outside to play on cooler days. My only real complaint is that this doesn’t have a longer cord (the cord is probably around 3 or 4 feet long).
This little heater comes with a thermostat that can control the shutoff switch. It was fairly quiet on medium. And is able to heat up my little 400 square foot bedroom from 70 degrees to 75 in 30min.
This is so useful in the basement. It heats up the place enough so that it’s comfortable enough to walk around in sleepwear. This little thing doesn’t give up with multiple hours of continues usage.
Winter Update:
The heater is quiet enough to use on low during the day time. They’re very efficient as a heater. Easy to move them around without burning my hand. The adapter provided has precise control shutoffs.
This unit is great for keeping a space from freesing.
It has a separate precision thermostat plug adapter thing that you can set digitally. It’s very easy, and it remembers the setting between power failures too.
The fan itself is super quiet and gentle. It blows well and circulates the air nicely.
The housing is metal, which is great for safety. And the stand is really stable too.
All in all this is a great heater, a good value, and we’re using it to keep our crawlspace from getting below freezing.
I got this heater to keep my garage warm in bad weather. A semi-feral cat adopted me and hangs out in my garage. Feeding him has also attracted a couple of possums who are pretty cute and now, pretty fat!
I was hesitant to put a space heater outside for safety reasons, but I saw this and since it’s designed for prolonged use in outside buildings I hoped it would do the trick.
It’s been below 20 degrees overnight outside here for four days, but this heater kept the garage around 58-60 degrees. I know this because I have a laser thermometer and checked the temp out there several times. It occurred to me that keeping the garage so much warmer might help keep the pipes from freezing and other problems from happening as the water heater is out there and the electrical panels are inside and outside the garage walls. Basically instead of that room being very cold, it was perfectly pleasant for the whole freeze. It would be great, I think, to keep an outside workshop warm.
The best part about the heater is even after running for two days it is still cool to the touch on the metal exterior. It does not get hot beyond blowing the heat away from itself. This was really a relief as, of course, I don’t want something overheating in my garage.
To use the basic unit you only need to turn it on and it only has three settings: off, on with fan, or, on with heater.
It comes with some fancy soil temperature gage (I assume for greenhouses) and remote, but I don’t need it, and don’t really understand what it does! However, if seems like something that would be beneficial to a grower.
The cat and his friends thank the makers of this heater. They all looked awfully smug and cozy out there, in their retreat from the ice and wind.
