I have only had this for a few months so I cant attest to this products durability. However, this unit heats up water to the proper temperature very quickly! -faster than my has stove. I have gotten spoiled using it. Love the different temperature selections- no more guessing about the water temp when I’m having green tea vs black tea. Also counts down the appropriate time (3min for green, 5 for black). Only complaint is I wish it had a louder ding when the brew time is complete. I dont use the cylindrical brew basket for tea bags or loose tea-it is a hassle. Doesn’t work for just one cup of tea and is irritating to clean. I just toss the bag in or use a small tea ball. This is a smart looking unit. I won’t speak to color because I bought the drab green one because it was half the price.
This kettle has allowed me to replace a home-grown process for brewing Sun Tea indoors. I prefer brewing Sun Tea outside as it is a slow low temperature process and the Tea suites my tastes. Often I cannot brew my Sun Tea in a jar outdoors, so I do it indoors via a heat blanket and warmer plate. This Gourmia replaces my old process and works great. What most reviewers don’t tell is that the Gourmias Temperature adjustment can go lower than the presets. It can be set to between 100 and 212. I set the temperature to 140 and that replicates the Sun Tea brewing temperature that I use. This is a great kettle and I would recommend it to anyone wanting its features or wanting to control the brew temperature. The Keep Warm temperature is also adjustable between 100 and 190 and the 3 hour Keep Warm time is perfect for my needs. Highly recommend this product.
Love it, better than expected. Works fabulously. I recommend using distilled water and rinsing with the same. Mineralized water will corrode the heating element and the temperature sensor. Washing or rinsing in tap water will also leave a small soap residue where distilled water will not. Additional benefit, you can reheat tea or coffee with the same taste as first brewed.
4 11 26 revised to 4 stars for the following reason: the product works great, BUT you must be careful when rinsing the carafe because if the electronics gets any water in it the unit acts really strange and cannot accurately sense the temperature. The good news is that after 2 days, it dried out his working great again.
Company suggestion: this is a simple fix, even if you had to increase the costt by $5.00. The money you would save on returns and defects would be significant. Since the electronics on this system do not generate enough heat to worry with heat failure, just fully cover the electronics board with polyurethane like what is done in wet applications. Problem solved for pennies and you will have tremendous reliability. From an engineer.
Absolutely love this glass kettle! First off let me start by saying I love it because it is glass, secondly I love that it has a removable catcher in there so we can put our loose tea or teabags inside of the cylinder so we can filter the tea properly and we get a beautifully brewed pot of tea each time! I was told that you can also use this for coffee that I have not tried yet, I do plan to though! Heat up and boils in 90 seconds, I also recommend getting the four year warranty for this unit as that is what I have done! I purchased this when it was deeply discounted and I don’t regret it at all was a wonderful purchase and a suit my family quite well
This kettle has so many built in features in an absolute must buy! Firstly I love that you can set the desired temperature which is very useful when needing both warm water but also for certain teas I drink as ideally need to be made with 167 degree water not boiling. It also has 6 preset temperatures so very easy to simply select desired option as some presets are above boiling as it goees up as high as 212 degrees. Secondly it has a removable infuser which means i can make my loose leaf tea in the actual kettle meaning no need for a strainer or teapot – this is a great option for when making more than one cup as don’t need to do individual cups of loose tea and can make a whole batch at once. Thirdly – its fast! Boils in less than 90 seconds which is accurate and LOVE that it has a ‘keep warm’ feature so I don’t need to keep heating from cooled water each time. Overall absoutley fantastic quality and love the design of it!
