I’ve had this for a couple of weeks now and there are a few things I like about it over my Dyson stick vac:
Light: The light on the front of the roller head makes it so satisfying to suck things up in dark corners.
Self-standing: It always annoyed me to have to lean the Dyson against something or lay it on the floor.
On button: You don’t have to keep your finger on the trigger like the Dyson, which always got tiring after a while.
Telescoping: The main “stick” has a telescoping adjustment that gives it more reach and flexibility when using it as a hand vac.
Removable battery: I love that I can store the vacuum in a closet and charge the battery somewhere else instead of having to install the charger near an outlet. Pops on and off very easily.
I bought my Dyson five or six years ago so some of these features may be available on the newer models, I don’t know. Then again, the Dyson has lasted five or six years and is still running strong. We’ll have to see if this one lasts.
I am happy with the purchase of this vacuum, but I bought it under the expectation that the many reviews stating that this vacuum was “a game changer” were not hyperbole and were not genuine. I do not find anything “game changing” about this vacuum in the slightest. If that expression has come to mean that something is fairly priced , feels solid and looks good, then it shouldnt be used in any review, ever again.
This is a good vacuum and I dont regret buying it. I’m pretty happy with it. But…
SUCTION: any vacuum should pick up lint, hair, fuzz and fibers, so I’m really not sure why that is in the marketing and promotion. That should be a given, so I didnt find anything impressive about its natural ability to pick that up. However it DOES suck up kitty litter and some strewn cat food on our tile floors. That was about all it took to make me happy about my purchase. However, the suction does not suck up our kitchen rugs, entry rugs, nor does it get into the corners and crevices of our stairs’ carpet without the tool. My other unit did.
NOISE: The unit is pretty loud, plainly stated. Either that, or my former machine was remarkably quiet at about half the decibel level. This vacuum is slightly quieter than a corded Hoover vacuum, by maybe 25% but how anyone feels that it is a quiet machine baffles me.
MANEUVERABILITY: My old cordless vacuum turned hard 90 degree turns under furniture without having to turn the handle more than about 30 degrees to the side. This vacuum has a maximum turn of only about 45 degrees. To do even that, the handle has to be turned completely on its side, making it uncomfortable for the wrist. With the handle on its side, the previously trapped kitty litter trickles back down the suction tube and onto the floor. Its not hard to maneuver into areas, it just required walking around a bit in order to achieve the angle needed to guide the vacuum head to where you want it.
GREEN LED LIGHTS: These can be considered good or bad, depending on your take. They illuminate every single hair, rug fiber, waft of lint and string on a hard floor. It makes my floors look like someone scattered beach sand all over my floors, when without the LED lights, nothing can even be seen, except for those grains of kitty litter that is my primary target. I like the low level white lights of my former vacuum much better. Just be prepared to be compelled to vacuum EVERYTHING once you start vacuuming because otherwise, you will feel like you are knowingly leaving part of the forest floor on your hardwood floors.
THE REST: The vacuum does a good job of standing up on its own. If you take the battery off while its being stored in between uses, it is less top heavy and may prevent a fall. If it would ever fall from its upright position, I find it hard to believe that the dust bin wouldn’t crack irreparably. This is why the vacuum is stored standing up, but in a corner, away from pets and people traffic. This unit is not lightweight for a cordless unit. It wont strain the arm or wrist unless you have disabilities but I would never call this light weight. The wheels on the vacuum head are very smooth and I actually get a sense that, because of the weight, that this is a solid machine. I was happy with price, have to say that its a good value and am hoping to get long life from it. Good it is. Game changer, it is not. That is a much higher bar for me and I think most people.
Changed from 3 stars to 4. If something is considered a good value and really doesnt have any design or use issues, it doesnt deserve only 3 stars. I still think some of the previous reviews were exaggerated for whatever reason but this item deserves 4 stars. Just not 5.
Great Vacuum for great price (from a newbie vacuum buyer)
So far I’m very happy with this vacuum. Before buying it, I read the good and the bad reviews. I’d like to say so far, it works great as a vacuum (as it should). It can be used in a small handheld form or long stick vacuum depending on how you arrange the parts. The storage/charging piece was able to be put up using command velcro strips and hold every piece of the vacuum. Easy to put together and empty out.
It is fully plastic, so durability may be questionable, but only time can tell. I can say I dropped it already and it did not break.
TLDR worth the price, easy to use, and didn’t break when dropped.
