Sturdy and moves just like a boxwood.
The dryer climate where I live (zone 9) leaves plants quite dulled. As you might see in the picture I provided, the live boxwood plant is more yellow. For those living in a lush green area with real humidity, these bright green boxwood balls would fit in well. I might just go buy some spray paint to lighten the outer most leaves of these. They’re cute and would look good in pots on either side of the door.
Other than the coloring for me, the topiary ball set is fantastically low maintenance with regard to trimming, a lot less work on maintaining soil quality, and no water used. They require the one time fluff out, which is easy to do, but then no payment to gardeners for monthly. Our ground is hard so my spouse drilled holes into the ground to help the stakes go in.
A high-quality item at a fair price.
The boxwood trees were the perfect size. They are very realistic from a distance or even up close. They were very easy to take out of the box and shape. The stake it came with, made it very easy to anchor and keep firm in the flower urn soil. I was most satisfied and pleased with this product.
The appearance of lush greenery without the maintenance of real plants. The material feels good and simulates the appearance of a live shrub. The coloring is good, a deep and strong green. The branches are flexible but not bendable and shapeable like a Christmas tree. These plants will naturally find their own form rather than being adjusted into shape. The leaves are smooth and rubbery.
Although the trees arrived a bit smushed and deformed from shipping, a quick shake restored most of the shape, and after a few days of settling, the ball form looked full and even.
Since I’m using them indoors in flower pots, UV fading isn’t a concern for me, but they do come advertised as UV resistant for outdoor use.
The only downside was the extremely strong and unpleasant odor when I first unpacked them. Quickly, the smell was filling the house and was even nauseating, and I’m not sensitive to odors. I placed them outside, and the hot Arizona summer sun and heat really helped with the off-gassing. Three days outdoors and another week in the garage, the odor has mostly dissipated, and they are safe to bring inside. Overall, once aired out, these topiary trees are a great addition to any space.
Great addition next to the front door!
I got the small red roses topiaries, & I do like the look of them. Of course, if you REALLY look, you can tell they’re fake, but they’re by my front door & I just wanted something pretty that I don’t have to water! Nobody’s going to have their face in them, as far as I know, so I’m satisfied with their look. As they weren’t going into the ground, it was a bit wonky getting them into their containers, but I fixed that by adding outdoor flower foam into the bottom & sides to add stability. Fluffing them was easy! Decently priced, perfect size for my needs, rich red coloration.
