First off I like how the cover is rectangular and form fitting. Very nice.
I’m used to tarp-like material on pool covers, but this is not tarp. It is thinner and more lightweight than tarp. Much easier to work with. It is called 420D silver-coated waterproof.
There are two issues that I think could be improved upon.
1. There is only one tab of which to tie or anchor the cover down on each side. For a length of 32′, that’s just not really enough. In the absence of additional tabs, there are no grommets along the sides of the cover to help secure it. Grommets are only on the corners.
2. There is a drawstring cord that is sewn along the sides of the cover. There is only one cord and one cord lock to cover a perimeter of 96′. It is not enough to handle the task. I think it would be better to use drawstring cords as follows: two 16′ lengths along each 32′ side and one 16′ length along each 16′ end. I think a drawstring cord is a great idea. However, it would be much more useful if it were divided up.
I’ve never had a cover made of this material, but I’m always open to new technologies.
I love the look of the cover. I love that it is lightweight. I love the idea of the drawstring cord. It just needs to be tweaked.
I can’t give and honest recommendation until after the winter season.
Holy cow, it works! I think for the value it is great. It does the job well and keeps stuff out of the pool. I am not a fan of the string tie downs or the smooth anchor pins that it comes with, but plan to buy some bungie cords to add to the tiedown eyelets to do a better job and less hassle to tie and untie. Overall I am happy with it and it is holding up well so far. Recommended item.
