As a longtime LEGO fan and history nerd, this set was a dream. The build is intricate but never frustrating, with smart layering and beautiful architectural detailing. The attention to scale and symmetry is impressive — and once complete, it genuinely feels like a museum display piece.
This isn’t a “play” set for kids — it’s a contemplative, display-worthy project that you’ll want to take your time with. I spent a few evenings unwinding with this after work.
Bonus points for the instruction booklet, which includes actual historical context about Himeji Castle if you’re looking for some more educational value to the set.
good value for money, no missing pieces.
Love the architect sets. Especially this one. Not too big, not too small. Legos ain’t cheap no matter what set you get but this one in my opinion is worth the money if you enjoy well, anything architectural. Even tho this set is supposed to be for ages 18+, but I think just about anyone with a couple brain cells could manage to put this together no matter your age. Took me roughly 3 days to build this one (1-2hrs each evening). All together, fun set for all ages!
One of my favorite sets! I love the Architecture series and this is one of my favorites because I’ve had a love of Himeji Castle for a long time. The instructions are clear and as always, very easy to follow. The booklet even has the awesome history of this castle included and explained as you build. The colors are as accurate as LEGO can get without making the piece count go way up. It is rather big for a LEGO set, but that is to be expected for the Architecture series.
Kids could build this but it’s definitely meant for adults. A very fun build.
This set is absolutely beautiful. The level of detail in Himeji Castle is impressive, from the layered rooftops to the stone base. It feels both fun to build and like a true display piece when finished. The instructions are clear, the pieces fit perfectly, and the final model is larger and more striking than I expected.
If you enjoy LEGO Architecture or Japanese landmarks, this is a must-have. It’s both a relaxing build and a centerpiece for any shelf.
With the prices of Lego sets this one felt reasonable and well worth it.
