WHY pay $50 for a bath mat?

WHY pay $50 for a bath mat?
Surely you can find a nice, SOFT bath mat for a lot less, right? Yes, and you can also experience the miserable sensation of stepping onto a soggy, bacteria-ridden piece of wet carpet, hours after showering/bathing, and getting the bottoms of your socks all wet. I was tired of that life. That's why I went diatomaceous. Of the two such mats I've tried in the past few months, the only significant difference I can observe aside from color is porosity. What this means is, since the mat is like a stone sponge, the larger the holes of the sponge, the faster it draws water away from you and into the mat. The sensation is really quite strange, but also kind of pleasant. The pores in this mat are relatively smaller, and the feeling of having the water sucked off of your feet is less than the first mat I tried (the only reason I switched is because my dark hair showed more easily on the first, lighter colored mat). The trade off is that a mat with larger pores may more readily become stained and need resurfacing. Either way, I got out of the shower dripping wet, toweled off, then stepped off the mat. Within a minute or so, the water on the mat surface had soaked in enough that my socked feet stayed dry when stepping on it. Truly life-changing. I've placed diatomaceous bath mats in both a tiled and [regrettably] a carpeted bathroom, and both are holding up just fine with no hint of cracking or breaking. More uneven tile than mine or higher pile carpet may introduce greater chance of this, however. The one caution I have about this particular mat, especially when compared to the other mat I tried, is that it's edges are vertical instead of being rounded over. And that's perhaps the biggest advantage a traditional, soft bath mat has over these manufactured stone mats: you can't stub your toe on one. I haven't stubbed my toe on this one either, but in the middle of the night when I'm barely awake and the lights are off, it's a possibility. But for those who are fed up with wet socks and are willing to accept some minimal risk, $50 is a great price for something that improves your quality of life this much.

This mat is a great size but man, is so fragile. and the packaging sucks. The seller needs to add foam or some kind of extra protection in the packaging. my first order was broken in half, the second attempt (the replacement they send me) broken in half again. So disappointed

Love the product and the idea. It soaks up so much water. But, it is impossible to get stains out, and my family loves to put food products on the stone while they are serving themselves, leaving stains behind.

Well, I've never had a hard bath mat before so that was something to get my brain used to but it didn't take long haha! I have really grown to love this mat. It is hard and cold so be prepared for that, but it catches water like a champ! I washed my dog and set him on it, then I showered. By the time I was done my shower it was dry and ready for me. All you could see was my footprints, no sign he was even in it. Wild! Even though it's hard, it's not clammy since it absorbs the water, like a self drying floor. Since my shower is in the open bathroom, I'll prob take it out when I have company since I wouldn't want shoes and dirt on it. Great bath mat! No regrets! (Side note: Seems like it would crack if put on carpet so probably best for hard floors. Very sturdy on hard floors.)

This is my second stone bath mat, and overall, I like the look and feel, just takes a bit of getting used to. We've always like those plush, squishy, drying your feet bath mats right beside the tub or shower. These are a modern look, with a firm/hard surface, but certainly win out with the quick drying ability of diatomaceous earth. This GHFSDO stone mat is very basic, not a busy pattern to deal with and the instructions do recommend drying the mat from "time to time in a well ventilated place" to avoid the occurrence of mold. I have not had any problem with mold or even needed to used the enclosed sandpaper disc to brush off dirt.

I ordered this stone barh mat for my bathroom. This is the first time I have used or bought a mat like this. The truth is I didn't know they existed, I've always used the cloth ones, so I didn't know what to expect. But I must say that I have used it for two weeks and the truth is that it seems practical, hygienic and ecological since it does not have to be washed. It comes with a small sandpaper to clean after a while/return it to its natural state. I'm just getting used to using this stone mat. I must say that I couldn't compare it with anything because it is the first time I use this type of mats, but I feel that it is worth trying. Also, I forgot to mention, it's super absorbent.

I have to admit, I have never heard of a diatomaceous earth mat before stumbling upon this mat. I understand the concept, but couldn't imagine how this would work. But sure enough, it works great to soak up water when stepping out of the shower. Originally had this in the master bathroom, but found it too small. We have a swing out shower door, so there isn't much room to stand on this, with the door in the way. We decided to move this to the kids bathroom instead, where of course, kids always come out of the shower dripping wet. Does a great job, just wish it were slightly bigger.
