The white and pink version of this Vuopax speaker is very stylish. Indeed my daughter saw it and immediately commented on how cute it was. Having heard hundreds if not close to a thousand speakers I told her keep her expectations low. I’ve never heard of this brand other than just having tested a larger supposed “Party speaker” that was anything but that.
After turning it on and listening to test tracks I came away impressed. It’s not perfect but it gets the job done for sure.
One quirk I noticed is that every time you turn the speaker off and then back on you will have to turn on the extra bass function via the button clearly labeled on top as “Bass”. It defaults to having it turned off for whatever reason and doesn’t remember last used function. And you WILL want to turn on the extra bass because by default it is far too anemic.
With extra bass on it sounds way more serious. Indeed the bass radiators move so much I was worried they would be damaged, but they took all of my test tracks with relative ease. It’s rare to listen to a non name brand speaker and it play even the most difficult of my test tracks and have almost no distortion. I did notice on very difficult tracks that there was slight volume pumping at max and also sometimes a tiny bit of “warbly” vocals. I didn’t feel the need to turn it down though.
For the most part the speaker holds solid up to max volume. It does get quite a bit harsher above 80% but most speakers do to just get more volume in.
The 30 hz bass is a bit of a stretch, the bass radiators do move on those lower frequencies but you cannot hear them.
Having said all of that I don’t think I would want the black version for the same price. The white version looks so cool by contrast.
Guess my daughter gets a new speaker after all since this performs so well.
If you are looking for better sound for price / size I would look at the Tribit Stormbox Blast 1 (not two) when it goes on sale or the Tribit Stormbox Lava.
