    Cleans up all that gunk
Worked perfectly for my intex pool. When I changed the filter for the first time I was shocked at how dirty the filter was.

It was easily to install, easy to use and was able to clean my pool in 4-6 hours.

    Very effective swimming pool filte
This pump recycles the water in our 14 ft swimming pool very efficiently, especially with the skimmer attached. The suction allows the skimmer accessory effectively clean the surface water, while the pump filters the rest of the water. Regular, weekly washing of the filter will ensure water stays very clear.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersSmall pool buyers guide: what I learned
This is a good product. Don’t buy anything less; this is the MINIMUM flow rate/price point for ANY size pool. Intex is quality and this size is the absolute minimum for even the smallest kiddy pool. Filters are plentiful and inexpensive. Don’t skimp! You will regret it if you do.

Buy this and get some metal hose clamps to accompany setup. Although the engineers assume you have a large above ground pool and provide accessories for such a situation, you and I know we’re just trying to clean out our inflatable kiddie pool WITHOUT appropriate sidewall nozzle hookups.

Note: the GFCI plug on this pump not only protects from getting shocked, but it has a built in timer! Super cool! I don’t recall seeing this in the description, but it’s a great feature for those that have other things to do while the little people dry off with other activities…

I experimented with different things to make this thing work, but you absolutely will need a weight to secure the hose ends at the bottom of the pool. Something heavy like a 5 lb weight coated in plastic to zip tie hose ends to. This is the only way to keep the water flowing throughout the cleaning cycle. If the pump gest air in it at any time while operating it will not continue to work. Thankfully there seems to be a thermal regulator for the pump motor. If it gets hot it shuts off and will work again soon.

DON’T BE FOOLED. YOU NEED TO PRIME THE SYSTEM AND IT’S A PAIN IN THE BUTT! A traditional garden hose fits inside the filter hose (1″ to 1.25″) and it helps to run a garden hose while turned on almost all the way up towards the filter pump while having both ends of the filter hoses submerged. This is the easiest way I’ve found to help prime the pump. This needs to be performed each session running the filter pump unless hooked up to a large above ground pool as intended by design (whereby the pump system would always be below top water level and would never need priming).

It will take trial and error to learn what to do, but if I can get it done, so can you!

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersIt turned out to be great after some minor adjustments
I got one of these for a small inflatable pool for my kids.

After a few days, I was ready to pull my hair out. The filter would constantly lose it’s pressure vacuum by breaking the water surface and have to be primed again. It honestly took everything I had not to smash it to bits after the first few days (I had to go out and re-prime the pump at least once every hour.

After a few observations, I noticed the problem wasn’t the hoses breaking surface the surface, it was because I had the pump above the water level. Once I lowered it down, it started functioning with little to no adjustments.

After the first week of trial and error the pump worked great. The water stayed nice and clean, and clear of debris in our 500 gallon pool. I did have to use a chlorine treatment about once a week to keep the water from turning green, but this is just a filter, not a miracle device.

I was able to find replacement filters at Wal-Mart for about $5 each. I just had to cut out the center ring out to make them fit.

Some tips if you’re using this pump: I found that priming this filter was kind of a pain. You have to remove ALL of the air from both the filter housing and the hoses. On an above ground pool where this is installed in the outer walls of the pool, it probably isn’t as difficult, but I was using this sitting on the ground next to the pool with the houses going over the side and into the water. There is a small cap on top of the filter — loosen that. Then hold both hoses up in the air and pour water into them until they’re full. Then place the hoses into the water and be sure they stay below the surface. You’re now ready to turn it on.

I picked up some additional filters at the store when they clearanced them out at the end of the season as I plan on using this again next year.

Overall, I liked this filter, but priming it was such a pain. For the price, it’s definitely worth it to not have to refill your pool and wait 1-2 days for the water to get warm enough to enjoy it and my kids loved having a nice clean pool all summer.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersPowerful filter without breaking the bank!
Love this filter and so happy I purchased it. I got this filter to throw over the side of my blow up pool. Getting this product primed was a little tricky because you need three hands to do it, but once I got a little help, it has been an asset to helping my pool stay clean. Priming trick to get the air out, take a pitcher, fill the housing unit with water, while holding both ends of the tubes up, fill both tubes also all the way with water, then have someone turn the pump on as you shove the tubes into the water. I used fishing weights to hold the tubes down in my pool since I did not install them into the side of the pool. I love how quiet this filter is and how it quickly cleans the water of debris. I also love the timer, so you can set the filter to run for however long you want, based on your individual needs. This product is secure and it is easy to replace the filters. This product does not leak, all parts are snug and fit as they should. The suction is great and keeps the water moving as it recycles it back into the pool. Great product, affordable price and came with everything you needed to get started.

Golden Review Award: 368 From Our UsersReplaced iPool Pump/Filter. What a difference
The Filter Pump I got with the iPool was (as many reviewers have said)a joke.

You could barley feel any water flow in the inlet and outlets of the pool.

But thanks to upgrading to the Intex 56637EG, the water flow is more like a real

filter pump should be and is very strong.

I am a bit confused as to why someone would buy the 56637E without a fault breaker for

more money, but to each his/her own.

This is a very strong pump, but I have ordered a second as back up.

Oh yeah, one more thing, when cleaning the (A) filter, you can actually remove the filter with

the pump running, but not with the pump off because when the pump is running, water will only

enter at the bottom of the filter well; when the pump is off, pressure from the pool, forces

the filter well to fill up. Also, when cleaning the filter, it may look clean (white) but don’t

let that fool you, as most of the sediment is trapped in the inside folds of the filter where

you can’t see it; just spray off the filter and out comes brown stuff you would never see by

    just looking at the filter.

    Addendum:

After running this pump/filter for two seasons (my seasons are about 8 months long as I live in the desert) for an average of 6 to 8 hours a day, I can say this is a very strong pump and I have had no problems with it.

Something else I have learned about the filters, is that you don’t need a bunch of them, as I have been running off the same filter for the two years, I just unscrew the top as the unit is running, spray off the filter, put it back in, close the lid (not to tight), turn off the power, unscrew the air vent and let all the trapped air out, and then start up the pump again.

Addendum 1: I have been using this Pump/Filter for over three years now with NO PROBLEMS.

Intex has a new number for this Pump/Filter; it is: 28637EG

Addendum 2: This is the start of the 4th year on this pump. I ran the pump for a few days, and I noticed the GFI was tripping, after four or five restarts, the pump impeller started to make an uneven sound, and then it just stopped. I will use the back up pump I have, and have ordered another back up. At $45.00, three years of service is acceptable.

I disassembled the bad unit, and the impeller had no damage, so the motor windings (potted) went out. I pulled the impeller and plastic coated magnet (all one unit) out, and anything else I could use for spare parts, and installed the new pump.

Also, at minimum before you toss the old unit, clip the extension cord and GFI plug, as the 25ft cord and plug are worth about half what you are spending on the whole pump!
