Great Insulation, Easy Cleaning
I really love this bottle. It has become my goto for both hot and cold drinks. It keeps my broth and coffee hot for a long time. I no longer have to make multiple trips to the microwave to heat them back up.
When I tested it with about 8 ounces of hot broth, it stayed hot enough that I had to sip carefully through the straw at first. Because it’s harder to control the flow when drinking from the spout, I wait until the liquid cools down more before using that option, which takes well over an hour. The insulation really does its job.
It also keeps my water cold for hours, which is great.
The design is thoughtful. I love that the straw is attached on the underside of the lid, and that the entire lid can be disassembled for a thorough wash. It’s also nice that the bottle is dishwashersafe, which is unusual for stainless steel and a big plus for me.
The carry strap is handy, though I do wish it were large enough to slip over my wrist. Not a deal breaker, just something that would make it even more convenient.
The bottle is tall, so it doesn’t fit under my coffee maker, but that’s easy enough to work around by brewing into a cup and pouring it in.
One thing to note: the spout has two openings (one for the straw and one for sipping). The very first time I used the one for sipping without the straw, I didn’t have my mouth fully covering both openings and water went all over me. Thankfully it was cold water and not something hot. Lesson learned, and it hasn’t happened again.
Overall, this is a sleek, lightweight, welldesigned bottle that performs exactly as promised. I’m very happy with it.
Slim, elegant, and 2 ways to drink out of i
This is a really nice 24 ounce stainless steel water bottle. There is no lead, and it is BPA-free. The color “licorice gunmetal” is quite striking. The bottom has a foam or silicone pad that helps hold the bottle in place, reducing the chances of it sliding. It’s nice that this bottle has a slim profile and fits in a car cupholder, and you can hold it easily in your hand. The removable strap serves as an extra measure to help hold it, but it is easily removable and must be removed when cleaning in a dishwasher.
The mouthpiece tab is leakproof once it snaps solidly into place. The top screws into position securely, and there is no leaking. I tilted it upside down and sideways and shook it, and it didn’t spill a drop.
The duality of how you can drink out of it is an interesting concept. You can tilt the Contigo and drink from it in that manner through the larger hole in the lid, or you can put your lips on the smaller hole and drink from there. It took me a few tries to figure out how to drink through the “straw” feature because there is no straw sticking up to latch onto like one would normally use a straw. The straw is embedded in the top and extends into the bottle, which is how everything can seal so securely.
I filled the bottle with ice and then water, and after 8 hours I still had just under half a bottle of ice remaining. That was inside and not outdoors, but it still kept everything quite cold.
This bottle is not designed for hot liquids according to the instruction sheet it comes with. The sheet also is clear that carbonated beverages can be dangerous because pressure can build because this is a vacuum sealed container, and pop the lid.
It washed up very well in the dishwasher. Once the strap is removed (per instructions) there are only two items to place in the dishwasher’s top rack, and it comes out perfectly clean. My first bottle of water tasted a little interesting, but I attribute that to my dishwasher tablets. My second bottle didn’t have that taste.
Contigo is a pretty reliable and well-valued brand, and this bottle keeps to that tradition.
Clever design, just wish it locked closed better!
I’ve been an avid Contigo water bottle fan for many years—my first one was purchased well over 15 years ago. My all-time favorite model was the Madison (RIP), which they unfortunately discontinued. Since then I’ve mainly used the 24 oz plastic Cortland and the 32 oz stainless steel versions. My favorite thing about Contigo bottles has always been the AUTOSEAL technology.
When I saw this newer line come out, I figured I had to try it. (I also tried their newer AUTOSEAL bottle and wasn’t impressed, but that’s a separate review.) This one caught my attention because it offers two ways to drink—a built-in straw and a spout for swigging, which I thought was fascinating. Surprisingly, both options work pretty well! The spout works a little better than the straw in my opinion, but I really appreciate the creativity of having both options in one bottle.
My only real complaint is the closing mechanism. While it is leakproof when fully closed, it doesn’t feel as secure as the locking system on the AUTOSEAL bottles. Those have a lock button to prevent accidental presses, whereas this could potentially get bumped in a bag and open unexpectedly—which could create a pretty messy situation.
Aside from that, it’s a really nice bottle. The style is beautiful, especially the rose gold accents, which make it look very sleek and chic. Overall I’d recommend it—as long as you’re not planning to toss it into a tote bag where it could accidentally open.
Great Inexpensive Produc
This was a travel cup bought for my husband, which he loves. We have bought, far more expensive brands in the past, but this is the one he keeps going back to.
It keeps ice for at least twenty four hours, since he refills the ice each day and it is still full.
The size is perfect for him also, since it fits perfectly in the cup holder of a car.
Great product.
