Good travel mirro
This is a handy, high-magnification travel mirror. The construction is fairly solid, the surround light gives good illumination, and the mirror surface and light switch are protected when it’s folded. There is no flat mirror. The mirror’s weight is just over a pound at 16.6 ounces, perhaps a little heavy for a travel item but it’s large, illuminated, and has a glass surface for a bright reflection. The base is a light-weight, flat layer of plastic so the mirror section with its battery makes it a bit top-heavy when opened.
There is no latch but the top and bottom fit together smoothly so it usually takes a tool or fingernail to open it. The support strut bottom hinge will not hold the mirror up unless the mirror is resting on the base or the strut is fully upright with its lower hinge detent engaged. There is no height adjustment but with the strut straight up the mirror can be rotated up almost 180 degrees until it is nearly vertical facing away from the base, so there is a choice of two mirror heights.
The light turns on when the mirror is unfolded away from its support strut and there are two marked touch button areas on the mirror. One button turns the light on or off at a touch and adjusts brightness up or down if held, and the other cycles through three light color settings. The user guide says the colors are “Neutral White (approx 6000K), Soft White (approx 3500K), and Natural Daylight (approx 4500K).” For comparison, photographers generally consider daylight color temperature to be in the 5000 to 6500K range and incandescent lamps to be 2400 to 3000K.
The image in the mirror is bright and clear, though the high magnification means that one’s face must be within about 3 to 4 inches from the mirror to focus sharply. The mirror seems has a peculiar egg-crate distortion if it isn’t quite in focus; I found it to be distracting unless I moved a little closer and accepted slightly less magnification with a sharper image (see photo of the effect with my phone in the mirror).
The battery is claimed to last up to 10 hours, presumably on the lowest brightness. There is no indication of remaining battery charge, though there is a tiny LED next to the USB-C charging port that is red while charging and turns green when fully charged.
The enclosed user guide states that the mirror has a 24-month warranty and it provides a phone number, online chat URL, and support email address. If you contact them, note that the company refers to this mirror model as “Abigail.” The box says the mirror was designed in Canada and made in China.
It’s a nice mirror. The one thing I would change is to add a finger grip or two to make it easier to open.
Fantastic detailed task mirror!
Fancii never disappoints. I have two other Fancii mirrors (the Taylor), so I knew this brand would not let me down. This Abigail travel mirror is perfect for my needs. I don’t do a lot of makeup, but when I do my eye makeup this will be great. Mostly I was seeking a better solution for when I apply my individual lash extensions, and this is perfect for that. I love how this folds up into a UFO disk. It protects the glass very well and the mirror is surprisingly lightweight. I’m not crazy about the white color but it doesn’t really matter. You can change the color temp of the LED lights to 3 different settings (neutral white, soft white and natural daylight) and it’s very bright! It turns on automatically when opened and shuts itself off when you close it, and the brightness of the lights is adjustable. There is no regular magnification to this mirror, it is 10x only on only one side. It is USB-C rechargeable—charges quickly and lasts 10 hours. It stays lit up for a very long time; it does eventually reset and you have to turn it back on manually. If you’re just doing makeup, this probably won’t happen to you. Lashes take a while so I have to turn it back on a few times per session. It’s easy, you just tap on the screen, and also tap the color change button to toggle between the color temperatures.
I do wish the base were heavier. It’s not very heavy so if I bump the mirror it will shake and I have to wait for it to settle before I can see again. This mirror wouldn’t be for you if you need a general mirror this is more of a specialized task mirror, and that’s exactly what I needed. It is pretty large (almost 7″ of mirror, not including the light ring) so I can see my entire work area as I do lash extensions on each eye and work back and forth. Keep in mind, because of the magnification, you do have to be right up on it in order to see (1-2″). I love that it has an option to be shorter or taller, depending on which way you have it flipped. I’ve tried multiple mirrors over the years for my lashes, and honestly this is probably my favorite for the detail work it requires.
Too expensive for what it is—though it’s a great, thoughtfully-designed product. Limited use.
First off, let me be upfront: I goofed. There is a similar version of this mirror that has *both* 1x and 10x magnification, and I thought that was what I was ordering. This mirror, in fact, for all its fabulous features, ONLY gives you an in intense magnification. That, plus the built-in lighting, is marvellous for aging eyes but it really doesn’t provide everything I need to do a complete face. I use [oksigh need] the magnification for up-close work on the eyes, but for the rest of my face I want to see it whole, without distortion, at reasonable/realistic distance. Nobody is peering at your every pore, every tiny wrinkle, every tiny blackhead when they are face-to-face-with you. Trying to do a whole face at this intense magnification is a little frustrating—and more than a little depressing!! Obviously, this was my error in ordering, and the mirror is clearly represented as a magnifier only. I am of course not deducting points for that. But I’m drawing attention to it: like me, you might also find it inefficient, space-wasting, and impractical for travel, when it covers *only* magnification.
All that said this mirror is a really great design. Excellent features:
– USB rechargeable (no cumbersome cord, nor expense / added weight of batteries); so far I’ve used it on 3 consecutive mornings without having to recharge
– mirror light turns on/off automatically when you open/close the mirror (as long as you close it after use, you won’t accidentally leave it on and run down the charge)
– 3 light hues (warm, neutral, natural daylight) which can be invaluable in a situation such as dim lighting, or under the dreaded hotel/office bathroom fluorescent lighting
– brightness is adjustable
– folds into a slim, light, clamshell disk that’s easy to transport and will protect the mirror surface from scratches and smudges
– large enough to see context of whole face, while still being compact enough to carry in a briefcase, tote, travel bag—or stash in a drawer
– a unique *long* extension neck, meaning that along w/ the usual squat prop-position, you can also set it up with the mirror in a higher, more natural face-to-face zone; I love not having to hunch down over the mirror, angling my face down (which can distort features in aging skin)
– base has 4 low-profile rubber inserts that serve as non-slip ‘feet’ to keep the mirror steady where you position it
– the 10x magnification is brilliant for plucking brows, doing liner, lashes, contact lenses, etc
– all surfaces are easy to wipe and keep clean
– it’s plastic, yes, and likely wouldn’t appreciate being dropped on, say, a tile floor—however, it feels like decent (if not top-notch) quality, and the finishing/edges/seams are all impeccable
– comes with an enclosed card re: a 12-month warranty, also with a 1-800 phone #, an email, and a website for customer service; the text on the card is in perfect English—all of which bodes well, should you have a problem with it down the line (the label on the box says the product is made in China, but the company/customer service is in Edmonton, Canada)
At the current price of $48.99 CAD, I think it’s a little pricey for what it is. If I had purchased it outright (vs receiving it through the Vine programme), I would probably return it bc for the price it is too limited in its application. It’s the price-point that has me deducting a star. IMO, it’s just not a $50 item.
Bright, Sturdy, But I Really Wish It Had a Regular Mirror Side
I have mixed feelings about this mirror, but overall it’s a solid product.
The build quality is actually very good. It feels sturdy, the hinge holds its position well, and it doesn’t wobble or feel flimsy when you’re using it. The LED lights are impressively bright and evenly distributed, which makes a huge difference when you’re doing detailed work like brows, liner, or lash placement. Lighting-wise, it absolutely delivers. It’s pretty lightweight and lns
That said-0 this is a 10x magnification mirror only. There is no regular (non-magnified) mirror on the other side. For me, that makes it much harder to use as a standalone mirror. Ten times magnification is intense. It’s great for precision, but you’re extremely close to your face and it’s not practical for full makeup application.
If this had a standard mirror on one side and 10x on the other, it would be nearly perfect. As it stands, I end up reaching for another mirror just to see my full face, which kind of defeats the convenience factor for travel.
If you specifically want strong magnification and bright lighting in a compact, sturdy design, this does that very well. Just know what you’re getting.
Sleek, portable, and awesome 10x mirror.
This is an nice piece of tech.
We all like it and find it sleek. It collapses to a portable format (still wide but that’s because the mirror is large).
I love that it turns on the LED lights on its own after unfolding it and turns them off after folding most of it.
The first button lets you turn off and on the lights. Holding that button changes the light intensity.
The second button on the right controls the light colour. There are 3 colours.
The mirror quality, one of the most important aspects is top notch, from what I can tell. Very clear and sharp.
You can see everything and it’s really nice.
What they could improve is to have it double sided somehow, while keeping the protection over the other side, in order to have a normal non-magnifying mirror.
My wife, while using this, had to use another mirror that didn’t have magnification in order to complete what she was doing.
Absolutely Beautiful and Incredibly Functional, it magnifies at 10x too
I’ve been using the travel mirror for about a bit now. It feels premium, lovely circle shape, and not too crazy big to carry around.
The 10x magnification is crystal clear and perfect for detailed work. Tweezing, eyeliner, and precise touch-ups are so much easier because you can truly see every detail without distortion. The 8-inch size makes it comfortable to use — not too small, not bulky.
The lighting is outstanding. The three color modes (warm, cool, and natural daylight) are good for different colored skin. I’ve used warm light for evening makeup and natural daylight mode in the morning, and it really helps ensure makeup looks correct in different environments. The dimming function is smooth and responsive, allowing just the right brightness level.
One of my favorite features is the height-adjustable stand. Being able to switch from handheld to tabletop mode makes it versatile and comfortable to use. No awkward angles or neck strain — it feels very well thought out.
Battery life has been excellent so far. After a week of regular use, I haven’t had to recharge it yet. The USB C rechargeable feature makes it even more convenient for travel. The one i had was with battery.
What I like:
– crystal-clear 10x magnification for precision work
– three adjustable lighting modes that truly make a difference
– smooth dimming control
– height-adjustable stand for comfortable positioning
– long-lasting and quick USB C charging
– lightweight, slim, and travel-friendly design
Opportunities:
– the mirror is a little hard to open, you have to use your nails to neither slit it between the two halfs or hold the little edge piece
Overall, I like it, it’s better than the last few ones I have tried. I like the bright and even ring of light. Just the right size for home or carry out.
