- Empty the water in the water pipe: After each use, be sure to drain the water in the water pipe. This prevents water from accumulating inside the pipes and reduces the growth of bacteria and algae.
- Stow your water hose: Use a reel or hose reel to stow your water hose so it doesn’t drag on the ground and be exposed to sunlight. This prevents water pipes from wearing out and aging.
- Avoid direct sunlight: Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause water pipe materials to age and become brittle. Store your hose in a cool, dry place or use a shaded hose reel.
- Protect against extreme temperatures: High temperatures in the summer and freezing temperatures in the winter can affect the lifespan of your water pipes. Avoid leaving water pipes in extreme temperatures for a long time. Especially in winter, the water in the water pipes should be completely drained to prevent freezing and cracking.
