After a promising but short cycling career, Maurizio Castelli created his eponymous brand in 1974, with the vision of being at the forefront of technology, performance and design.

A series of primates will follow: Lycra shorts used in racing and sold to the public, colored shorts, sublimation printed jerseys, synthetic winter clothing, the use of windproof membranes, the hydrophilic treatments of the fabric, the anatomical caseback, a lightweight jersey and aerodynamics.

Maurizio died in 1995 while riding on Cipressa, the penultimate ascent of Milan-Sanremo.
